Cherry Tree Montipora
This Montipora is an encrusting variety with an interesting color combination. The base is a nice orange color accentuated with neon green polyps.
The Cherry Tree Montipora grows in an encrusting form until it reaches the edge of the rock, where it will begin to plate out horizontally.
This thick-bodied Montipora grows slower than your average thin plating Montipora but we still consider it to be a pretty fast grower.
Montipora Are one of the most diverse SPS corals. They come in a wide variety of shapes and colors and have been a staple in SPS dominated aquariums as well as mixed reef tanks. They can be sensitive to changes in tank parameters as well as demanding both high flow and high light for peak health and coloration.
Placement: Mount the Cherry Tree Montipora using gel glue, or putty, on an exposed rock or ledge in the aquarium where it will receive direct flow and light. Remember that as it grows and plates out it will create more and more shade below it.
Feeding: Montipora relies heavily on the products of their zooxanthellae but to a lesser degree may feed on phytoplankton and similarly sized microfauna in the water column.
