NP-Bacto-Balance is ideal for keeping nitrate and phosphate low while maintaining the important balance between these key nutrients. In many situations, some reef aquariums may develop an excess of nitrate or phosphate while being limited in the other. When this occurs, bacteria and other organisms can't properly metabolize the excess nutrients, and carbon dosing alone is not enough. In order to restore the proper ratio of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus in these aquariums, it may be necessary to provide additional elements along with the carbon source. NP-Bacto-Balance is a unique solution that can help to stabilize nitrates and phosphates at the lowest possible levels while avoiding a nutrient deficiency. With its balanced composition of carefully selected organic and inorganic nutrients, NP-Bacto-Balance acts to reduce nitrate and phosphate while improving coloration and growth of corals, sponges and other filter feeders. In tanks of a medium age (1-2 years old*) up to 0.5 ml per 100 l /25 US-Gal. can be dosed per day In mature tanks (>2 years old*) can receive from 0.5 to 1 ml for 100 l /25 US-Gal. aquarium water per day. For best results, add Tropic Marin NP-Bacto-Balance to a high water flow area in the tank at the beginning of the lighting cycle. Dosage may be adjusted every 2 weeks by .25 mL per 100 liters/25 US-Gal, after testing nitrate and phosphate Maximum Dose  A dosage of 1 ml per 100 l /25 US-Gal. tank content per day should not be exceeded under any circumstances. If a clouding of the tank is observed after the elevation of the dosage of NP-BACTO-BALANCE, the dosage should be reduced to the previous level. Beside the organic and inorganic nutrients, NP-Bacto-Balance also contains the same trace elements of Tropic Marin K+ Elements in the same concentration. Up to a dosage of 0.75 mL NP-Bacto-Balance per 25 gallons per day a further supplement with 1 ml/25g K+ Elements can have a positive effect on the coloration of the corals. We recommend additionally the Tropic Marin® A- Elements for a complete trace elements dosage to add missing trace elements such as iodine, bromine, fluorine, vanadium, molybdenum and selenium. Note - Dosages are approximate guides. In individual cases, the measurement depends on the stability of the tank.

Elimi-NP can help to restore this balance by supplying a controlled source of carbon to the aquarium. This allows nitrate and phosphate consuming bacteria to resume their normal activity and help to export wastes through removal of their biomass. Elimi-NP is ideally suited to saltwater aquariums where the ratio of nitrate to phosphate is 10:1 or lower, as this will work well with the carbon concentration Elimi-NP provides. For systems where the ratio of nitrate to phosphate is higher, we suggest the use of NP-Bacto-Balance instead, as this has additional additives to achieve a better balance between nitrate, phosphate, and carbon.  Dosage Recommendations Begin with a daily dose of 0.1 ml per 100 l (26 US-gal) of aquarium system volume. Adjust the dosage after 2 weeks after testing the nitrate and phosphate concentrations and observing reactions of animals.  Dosage can be increased by 0.1 ml per 100 l (26 US-gal) of aquarium system volume. Dose Elimi-NP into the flow of the pump to ensure proper distribution throughout the aquarium. Store the bottle tightly sealed! Maximum dose: A daily dose of 0.5 ml per 100 l (26 US-gal) of aquarium system volume should not be exceeded. The concentration of phosphate in the reef aquarium should only be lowered slowly to avoid possible adjustment stress in the organisms. At the same time, the nitrate-phosphate ratio should not exceed 10:1.

A key difference between this product and many other sources of nitrate or phosphate is that the compounds in Plus-NP are bound by an organic energy source, so nitrogen and phosphorus can be utilized by corals more efficiently. This approach minimizes the loss of nutrients caused by denitrification and adsorption, prevents nutrient deficiency in the corals, and restores growth.   Instructions On first use, rotate the dispenser pump head counterclockwise until it pops out. Add 1 ml (1 pump-full) to every 100 l/26 US-gal. of aquarium system volume every day until the nutrient limitation in the corals has been rectified and the corals display a normal level of growth and coloration. Don't let excess phosphate ruin your tank with nuisance algae and poor coral health. Elimi-Phos Rapid is a Lanthanum-based treatment for extremely rapid and highly-effective phosphate reduction. Particularly during new aquarium "break-in" and during rock curing and cycling, phosphate can often rapidly accumulate in the water. During this time Lanthanum chloride products are ideal for rapidly precipitating phosphate from the water column to prevent future issues in a maturing aquarium. In some cases in an established aquarium, an accumulation of phosphates from various sources may benefit from rapid but controlled phosphate reduction in order to restore recommended levels. Excessive phosphates in the water can lead to strong algae growth and a reduction in the growth of corals. This is why it is important to monitor the phosphate concentration in an aquarium regularly and maintain the level in the optimum range. We recommend a general range of phosphate from 0.02 ppm to 0.15 ppm and in reef aquariums from 0.02 ppm to 0.1 ppm.  Elimi-Phos Rapid is a highly-effective solution based on Lanthanum which binds phosphates rapidly and eliminates them from the water. Phosphate can be lowered quickly to a range between 0.2 – 0.4 mg/l (ppm). Lanthanum-based phosphate removers are also convenient because they can be dosed by hand or with the use of a dosing pump in very precise amounts for specific targeted reductions. A dropwise addition directly before filtration using a dosing pump is optimal. Measure the phosphate concentration in your aquarium and then calculate the required amount of Elimi-Phos Rapid. We recommend reducing the phosphate concentration by no more than 0.1 ppm per day. This equates to a maximum of 1 ml per 26 gallons of system water volume. Note: All organisms require traces of phosphate. 0.00 ppm phosphate is not recommended. The optimum range for a reef tank is .02 ppm to .1 ppm. Caution:  1. Some tangs and potentially other fish may be sensitive to Lanthanum treatments. Excercise caution and do not dose to the display. In tanks where this may be a concern, we recommend starting at a very low dosage followed by careful observation. Should you observe any signs of stress in individual organisms, you should stop the treatment for 1 – 2 days or until the symptoms have disappeared and then continue at a half dose.2. Keep an eye on the carbonate hardness as occasionally it can drop slightly.
