Potassium is an essential macronutrient for all living organisms and occurs in natural seawater at a concentration of 408 mg/l. Adjusting the potassium concentration to the natural level with Tropic Marin® Potassium in case of a potassium deficiency can sometimes give a vitality boost to various corals. Before using Tropic Marin® Potassium, carefully determine the potassium concentration with a water test (e.g. Tropic Marin® K+ Test Pro). Advantages: Provides potassium in the aquarium Essential macronutrient for plants and corals Improves coral coloration and vitality Tropic Marin® Potassium contains 100 mg/ml potassium. A dosage of 10 ml Tropic Marin® Potassium per 100 litres of water increases the potassium concentration in the water by 10 mg/l. A daily dosage of 20 ml potassium per 100 litres of water should not be exceeded. Individual coral species can react to low potassium concentrations in aquarium water with stunted growth and weak coloration. Potassium is present in seawater in a concentration of approximately 408 mg/l. The potassium concentration should never be increased above the natural concentration – too high potassium concentrations are dangerous for sensitive animals. Therefore, before using Tropic Marin® Potassium, carefully determine the potassium concentration with our Tropic Marin® K+ Test Professional.

    Tropic Marin Iod Iodine

    In Stock

Of all the trace elements found in natural sea water, iodine is associated with the widest range of effects. Iodine prevents goitre as an important component of the thyroid hormone. It also is essential for the hardening of the chitinous shell of crustaceans. Coallinaceous red algae deposit iodine in surface structures and gorgoniias deposit it in the axial skeleton. Experiments clearly show that Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Iodine improves the adaptation to light and the colouring of anthozoa, especially of hard corals. Due to its unstable nature in solution, iodine should be added to marine aquarium on a regular basis. Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Iodine contains iodine in its most effective form, as elementary I². Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Iod Lugol´s solution for saltwater aquaria essential trace element for sea dweller improves the adaptation to light and the coloring of anthozoa, especially of hard corals Recommended dosage of Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Iod:Add one drop of Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Iodine per 200 l of water in the circulation flow of the system daily. If a dosage day is missed, skip that dose. Do not make up lost days by adding doses together. Iodine demand increases with aquarium population density. In heavily populated aquaria dosage may be increased up to the maxiumum dosage of 1 drop per 100 l water per day.

  • Sale -5% Tropic Marin - Tropic Marin PRO-REEF Sea Salt 10 KG - Reefamorous

Tropic Marin PRO-REEF Sea Salt 10 KG

    In Stock

Tropic Marin PRO-REEF Sea Salt 25kg Features: The pharmaceutical grade sea salt especially for modern reef aquaria.   Tropic Marin® PRO-REEF Sea Salt has been designed to meet the special requirements of reef aquariums with optimized concentrations of calcium and magnesium, which promote the growth of corals. The lower buffering and the correct pH value serve to stabilize the natural water values, and particularly, the hardness of carbonates, even with the use of calcium reactors. Natural and stable conditions for delicate marine life are achieved only by accurately balancing all influencing factors.   Tropic Marin® PRO-REEF is thus the ideal foundation for the care and growth of fish, corals and other aquatic invertebrates in modern reef aquariums. Use seawater prepared with Tropic Marin® PRO-REEF for regular water changes in your seawater aquarium, to start a new aquarium and to re-equilibrate the pH of a tank.     Benefits: • Optimizes calcium- and magnesium concentrations as well as alkalinity and pH. • Designed to meet the special requirements of modern reef aquaria with higher calcium requirements. • Especially designed for use with calcium reactors or mineral additives. • To maintain the alkalinity in a 7-8° dKH range. • Manufactured from pure, pharmaceutical grade salts. • Contains all major- and minor elements in the exact proportions found in tropical sea water. • The 70 trace elements are completely soluble due to the use of the mixed-crystal method. • Compliance with the most stringent quality control measures for the production of pharmaceuticals ensures nature-identical seawater. • Free from nitrates, phosphates and other unwanted chemicals.     How to use: To achieve a salinity level of 32-35 ‰ (psu), dissolve 35 ml of Tropic Marin® PRO-REEF per liter or approximately ½ cup of Tropic Marin® PRO-REEF per US gallon water. Dissolve almost all of the salt in a clean container already filled with the full volume of RO/DI water at a temperature of 73-77°F / 23-25°C while circulating/stirring the water. Do not concentrate the mixture by adding the full amount of salt to a smaller amount of water.   Note: Always add the salt to the water, never the water to the salt.  Making a concentrated mixture will cause a calcium carbonate precipitate to form.   When you have added ALMOST all of the salt and the mixture is fully dissolved and clear, start measuring the specific gravity with a hydrometer or similar instrument. Keep adding small amounts of salt until the specific gravity is the value you desire. The specific gravity of the sea salt solution should range from 1.025 to 1.027 (at 73-77°F / 23-25°C) and the pH-value should be in the range of 8.0 – 8.4. If all parameters are correct, the salt water is ready to use.   After setting up a new aquarium it takes a few weeks of water being circulated and correct lighting conditions to achieve the biologically stable environment required for the care and breeding of delicate marine organisms.   A weekly, partial water change, replacing 10 % of the total water volume with Tropic Marin® PRO-REEF, will help to maintain the water quality that your livestock needs for good health.   Parameters: approx. 7° KH, calcium approx. 440 ppm, magnesium approx. 1350 ppm   Application: For reef tanks with higher calcium requirements. To maintain the alkalinity in a 7-8° dKH range; particularly suitable when using a calcium reactor.   Use the new dosing calculator for an easy determination of the required amount of salt for your aquarium.

  • Tropic Marin - Tropic Marin Elimi-Phos Rapid 500 ml - Reefamorous

Tropic Marin Elimi-Phos Rapid 500 ml

    In Stock

Don't let excess phosphate ruin your tank with nuisance algae and poor coral health. Elimi-Phos Rapid is a Lanthanum-based treatment for extremely rapid and highly-effective phosphate reduction. Particularly during new aquarium "break-in" and during rock curing and cycling, phosphate can often rapidly accumulate in the water. During this time Lanthanum chloride products are ideal for rapidly precipitating phosphate from the water column to prevent future issues in a maturing aquarium. In some cases in an established aquarium, an accumulation of phosphates from various sources may benefit from rapid but controlled phosphate reduction in order to restore recommended levels. Excessive phosphates in the water can lead to strong algae growth and a reduction in the growth of corals. This is why it is important to monitor the phosphate concentration in an aquarium regularly and maintain the level in the optimum range. We recommend a general range of phosphate from 0.02 ppm to 0.15 ppm and in reef aquariums from 0.02 ppm to 0.1 ppm.  Elimi-Phos Rapid is a highly-effective solution based on Lanthanum which binds phosphates rapidly and eliminates them from the water. Phosphate can be lowered quickly to a range between 0.2 – 0.4 mg/l (ppm). Lanthanum-based phosphate removers are also convenient because they can be dosed by hand or with the use of a dosing pump in very precise amounts for specific targeted reductions. Key Benefits Extremely rapid removal of high phosphates Highly-effective Lanthanum based solution Phosphate concentration can be lowered quickly to a range between 0.2 – 0.4 mg/l (ppm) Directions for Use 500 ml of Elimi-Phos Rapid will bind up to 5 grams of phosphates, i.e. 10 mL per 26 gallons will reduce phosphate concentrations by up to 1 ppm. Phosphate reduction treatment is most effective with a skimmer or fine mechanical filter which will remove the precipitated phosphate from the system. A dropwise addition directly before filtration using a dosing pump is optimal. Measure the phosphate concentration in your aquarium and then calculate the required amount of Elimi-Phos Rapid. We recommend reducing the phosphate concentration by no more than 0.1 ppm per day. This equates to a maximum of 1 ml per 26 gallons of system water volume. Note: All organisms require traces of phosphate. 0.00 ppm phosphate is not recommended. The optimum range for a reef tank is .02 ppm to .1 ppm. Caution:  1. Some tangs and potentially other fish may be sensitive to Lanthanum treatments. Excercise caution and do not dose to the display. In tanks where this may be a concern, we recommend starting at a very low dosage followed by careful observation. Should you observe any signs of stress in individual organisms, you should stop the treatment for 1 – 2 days or until the symptoms have disappeared and then continue at a half dose.2. Keep an eye on the carbonate hardness as occasionally it can drop slightly.

One Set - 5 Parameters - Over 250 Tests! 100 pH Tests 100 Alkalinity Tests 50 Phosphate Tests 50 Nitrite/Nitrate Tests 50 Ammonium/Ammonia Tests   Being able to make quick and precise water quality assessments is vital and Tropic Marin Compact Lab Essentials Test Kit includes the necessary test kits every professional reefer needs.    Instructions: pH - Up to 100 Tests Shake the dropper bottle before use! Rinse out the glass cuvette with tap water and then several times with aquarium water. Fill the glass cuvette with exactly 5 ml of aquarium water using the dosing syringe. Add 1 drop of pH test reagent, close the glass cuvette using the stopper and briefly shake the solution. Place the glass cuvette on the white inner circles of the color card and compare it to the surrounding color fields. To do this, look into the open cuvette from above. Read off the measured pH value under the relevant color field. Rinse out the glass cuvette and the syringe thoroughly with tap water after the measurement process.   Alkalinity/dKH - Up to 100 Tests Shake the dropper bottle before use! Rinse out the glass cuvette with tap water and then several times with aquarium water. Fill the glass cuvette with exactly 5 ml of aquarium water using the dosing syringe. Now add the KH test reagent drop by drop (shake the cuvette after each drop), until the color of the solution changes from TURQUOISE to PINK. The number of drops indicates the alkalinity of the solution in dKH, e.g. 8 drops = 8 dKH. To increase the accuracy of the measurement, a 10 ml water sample (instead of 5 ml) can be used. In that case, 1 drop corresponds to 0.5 dKH, i.e. 15 drops = 7.5 dKH. Rinse out the glass cuvette and the syringe thoroughly with tap water after the measurement process   Phosphate/PO4 - Up to 50 Tests Shake the dropper bottles before use! Assemble and prepare the comparator. Rinse out both glass cuvettes with tap water and then several times with aquarium water. Fill each glass cuvette with exactly 5 ml of aquarium water using the dosing syringe. Put one of the two water samples aside as a reference. Add 10 drops (for saltwater) or 12 drops (for freshwater) of test reagent A to the test cuvette, close the glass cuvette using the stopper and briefly shake the sample. After that, add 4 drops of test reagent B, close the glass cuvette once again and briefly shake it. After 2 minutes of development time place the open test cuvette and the reference cuvette with the water sample into the comparator. Place the comparator on the color card in such a way that the reference cuvette is sitting on a colored field and the test cuvette on a white field. Now compare the opposing fields. To do this, look into the open cuvettes from above. Move the comparator on the color card until both cuvettes match exactly. Read off the phosphate concentration under the relevant color field. If the colors do not match exactly, an intermediate value can be estimated. Rinse out the glass cuvettes and the syringe thoroughly with tap water after the measurement process.   Nitrite/Nitrate - Up to 50 Tests Determining the nitrite level: Shake the dropper bottles before use! Rinse out the glass cuvette with tap water and then several times with aquarium water. Fill the glass cuvette with exactly 5 ml of aquarium water using the dosing syringe. Add 5 drops of test reagent A, close the glass cuvette using the stopper and briefly shake the solution. Add 2 drops of test reagent C, close the glass cuvette once again and briefly shake it. After 3 minutes of development time, place the glass cuvette on the white circles of the nitrite color card and compare it to the opposing color fields by daylight conditions. To do this, look into the open cuvette from above. Move the sample on the color card until the cuvette and the color field match exactly. If the colors do not match exactly, an intermediate value can be estimated. Read off the measured nitrite value under the relevant color field. Determining the nitrate level: Shake the dropper bottles before use! Rinse out the glass cuvette with tap water and then several times with aquarium water. Fill the glass cuvette with exactly 5 ml of aquarium water using the dosing syringe. Add 10 drops of test reagent A, close the glass cuvette using the stopper and briefly shake the solution. Shake the bottle with test reagent B vigorously in a horizontal direction for approx. 30 seconds (the reagent must be well-shaken). Then add 10 drops of test reagent B, close the cuvette again, shake it briefly and set it aside. After 3 minutes of development time, add 4 drops of test reagent C, close the glass cuvette once again and briefly shake it. After another 3 minutes of development time, open the test cuvette and place it on the white circles of the nitrate color card and compare it to the opposing color fields by daylight conditions. To do this, look into the open cuvette from above. Move the sample on the color card until the cuvette and the color field match exactly. If the colors do not match exactly, an intermediate value can be estimated. Read off the measured nitrate value under the relevant color field. Correct the result if necessary. Rinse out the glass cuvette and the syringe thoroughly with tap water after the measurement process.   Ammonia - Up to 50 Tests Determining the total concentration of ammonium/ammonia: Shake the dropper bottles before use! Rinse out the glass cuvette with tap water and then several times with aquarium water. Fill the glass cuvette with exactly 5 ml of aquarium water using the dosing syringe. Now add 10 drops of test reagent A to the water sample, close the glass cuvette using the stopper and briefly shake the solution. Then add 5 drops of test reagent B to the test cuvette; shake the glass cuvette briefly again and set it aside. After approx. 1 minute of development time, add 1 spoonful of test reagent C (powder), shake the glass cuvette briefly and then set it aside. After 5 minutes of development time, place the glass cuvette on the white inner circles of the color card and compare it to the surrounding color field. To do this, look into the open cuvette from above. Move the sample on the color card until the cuvette and the color field match exactly. A slight cloudiness in the salt water sample will not affect the result of the test. Take note of the measured total concentration value under the relevant color field. If the colors do not match exactly, an intermediate value can be estimated. Underwater bonding putty with a natural coralline algae color Two-part epoxy putty Specifically designed for underwater applications Suitable for freshwter and saltwater Ideal for bonding rocks for aquascapes, preparing coral frags, or cementing clam bases Also suitable for pipework, repairs, and bonding items to aquarium glass Dries to the color of coralline algae* *Please note: color is most true to natural coralline algae when cured underwater. Curing the epoxy outside of the water will result in a darker, deeper red color.   D-D Aquascape Epoxy is a two-part putty designed for use in both freshwater and saltwater systems. It's ideal for bonding live rocks to create or solidify aquarium aquascapes, prepping and positioning coral frags, creating clam bases, or even reparing aquarium equipment or pipework and bonding items to aquarium glass. This putty has been developed to be stickier than competitor epoxies so that it can bond easier to wet substrates, making aquarium repairs a breeze. D-D Aquascape Epoxy can be cured either underwater or outside of the water; however, the coralline red algae color will take on a more natural color when cured underwater.    Once fully cured, D-D Aquascape Epoxy can be machined, drilled, tapped, turned, filed, sawn, sandpapered and painted (if desired). It is heat resistant up to 130 degrees Celsius. Aquascape will bond to any of the following materials: wood, brick, cement, metals, concrete, rock, plastic, glass; making it an excellent general adhesive. Please note that it is not designed to be used as a thin layer bonding agent where a conventional glue is indicated. The epoxy will become semi-hard within 3-4 hours and fully cures hard as rock overnight. It is necessary to support heavy rocks, corals and overhangs until the putty sets.    During use, take care not to overmanipulate underwater. If the aquarium water starts to become cloudy, stop using immediately and allow the water to clear.

  • D-D The Aquarium Solution - D-D - True Seawater Refractometer - Reefamorous

D-D The Aquarium Solution True Seawater Refractometer

    In Stock

A refractometer truly made for sea water Calibrated specifically for the refractive index of natural sea water Accurate auto temperature compensation (ATC) Easy to read display   The D-D True Seawater Refractometer is a handheld instrument for the measurement of the TRUE Salinity and Specific Gravity (S.G.) of sea water by refractive index. Almost all other handheld saltwater refractometers available to the hobby are designed and calibrated for the testing of brine solutions (i.e. sodium chloride) and are not calibrated for the refractive index of natural sea water. Even though the largest percentage of salt in the sea is sodium chloride, the presence of other significant ions such as magnesium and calcium in natural sea water results in a different refractive index relative to that of brine. A standard salt (brine) refractometer will therefore not give the correct salinity for natural sea water (NSW) and a conversion factor must be applied. After extensive development, D-D’s new ATC refractometer addresses this issue as the scale is calibrated for seawatergiving true salinity results for aquarium use when correctly calibrated and greater accuracy than previously attainable.   Easier to Read One of the other problems with most refractometers is that the scale displayed normally reads from 0-100ppt when we are really only interested in the region from 30-40ppt. Our new Seawater Refractometer has therefore been specifically designed to read from 0-40ppt which gives you 2.5 times the resolution of a normal 0-100 scale.   Auto Temperature Compensation (ATC) There is a lot of misunderstanding concerning the way the ATC feature works and its effect on the refractometer at different ambient room temperatures. Salinity is a measurement of a mass of salt in a mass of water and therefore does not vary with temperature however a refractometer does not measure salinity directly but measures the refractive index which is then displayed as salinity. The refractive index of a solution does vary with temperature therefore the reading that you measure with a refractometer is always temperature dependant. An ATC refractometer has a bimetal strip inside the instrument that moves the reading scale as the temperature changes to compensate for the change in refractive index. What people do not generally understand is that it is the temperature of the instrument and not the water temperature that is important as the small sample of water used for testing will equilibrate within seconds to the temperature of the refractometer. Once correctly calibrated at the set calibration temperature of 20oC the refractometer can then be used in environments where the ambient temperature and therefore instrument temperature would heat up or cool down within the range of the ATC which is between 10 and 30 centigrade.   Calibration Calibration should always be carried out with the instrument at 20C, which is close to the average room temperature in most cases. Allow the refractometer to stand at this temperature for 30 minutes to equilibrate. The D-D refractometer is designed with a copper body which is more expensive to manufacture but responds faster to ambient temperature changes than other materials. Note that the refractive index is also dependant on the wavelength of light, therefore a light source closest to daylight should be used. D-D refractometers are calibrated at 20C and so the calculated specific gravity at 35ppt displays a reading of 1.0266. This is the equivalent to a specific gravity reading of 1.0264 for a water sample temperature of 25C using a standard hydrometer that has a calibration temperature of 77F or 25C.

Eheim Thermocontrol-E Aquarium Heater 300 WATT

    In Stock

With the EHEIM thermocontrol-e heating element your fish get the right temperature even more precisely - in every aquarium. The obvious ideas are often the best. This also applies to the aquarium heating element. It is simply hung in the water and heats it up. The principle is the same as it was decades ago. But in the meantime the EHEIM controller heater has become an ultra-modern thermal device. The temperature can be set precisely and is measured even more precisely and kept more constant by the electronics. The coating made of special laboratory glass increases the heating surface, serves as a heat shield and ensures even heat emission. And whether you want to heat a 20 or 1200 litres aquarium - you can choose from 10 sizes.Advantages of the EHEIM control heater thermocontrol-e Precise temperature adjustment from 20 to 32 °C No readjustment necessary Control accuracy ± 0.5 °C The heat is kept constant Control lamp indicates the heating function (red: heating up; green: temperature reached) Fully submersible (waterproof) With dry-running protection (Thermo Safety Control) Glass coating increases the heating surface and ensures optimum, even heat output Convenient cable length approx. 170 cm Including double suction holder 10 sizes for aquariums from 20 to 1200 litres Suitable for fresh and marine water Highest safety and reliability - 3 years warranty   Precision, comfort, quality and safety. As you know, fish from tropical and subtropical waters need a certain constant water temperature. Before the engineer Eugen Jäger invented the aquarium heater decades ago, there was no really satisfactory solution to produce the appropriate water temperature. They dealt with complicated and sometimes curious methods. Some put the aquarium in the sun or by the heater or stove. The EHEIM thermocontrol aquarium control heater is a further development of the legendary heating element and thermocontrol-e is the latest electronically controlled variant. The temperature can be precisely adjusted from 20 to 32 °C. The control accuracy is ± 0.5 °C.The heat is kept constant. A control lamp indicates the heating function. The heater is absolutely waterproof, can be fully immersed, has a dry run protection (Thermo Safety Control) and is suitable for fresh and marine water. One of the most important innovations is the glass coating: •    It increases the heating surface,•    compresses the heat, ensures optimum, uniform heat output and•    forms a heat shield (the aquarium inhabitants do not mind touching it).The coating is made of special laboratory glass. This was created for research purposes. It is therefore free of pollutants that could be released into the water. Chemical and biological substances do not attack it. There are no cracks and hairline cracks through which condensation water could pass. It is impact resistant. And even extreme temperature fluctuations, such as those that may occur during water changes, do not affect this glass. • Sale -13% Reef Snow 60 Grams

Tropic Marin Reef Snow 60 Grams

    In Stock

Product description The high level of biological activity prevalent in intact coral reefs means that high concentrations of biopolymer substances can be found there. Contact with nutrient particles and colonisation with specific bacteria lead to the formation of particles that have a heightened level of nutritional value and are even visible to the naked eye. These flaky and filamentous particles are referred to as reef snow.   Tropic Marin® Reef Snow contains these natural marine biopolymers. Together with other feedstuffs, they form nutrient-rich flakes that resemble natural reef snow which are then passed on to the corals and other filter feeders. The concentration of a Tropic Marin® Reef Snow solution can be varied in order to adapt the size of the flakes to suit the filter feeders contained in the tank. Benefits natural source of nutrients for corals and other filter feeders increases the filterability of the particles for many corals and filter feeders improves nutrient utilisation lowers the nutrient content of the water variable flake size larger particles constitute healthy feed with a prebiotic effect for fish ideal for binding vitamins and other feed enrichments Ingredients algae, alga extract Application & Dosage Stir approx. 1.5 measuring spoons of Tropic Marin® Reef Snow into 100 ml of reverse osmosis water and allow it to soak for one to two hours, stirring occasionally. Next, stir in the feed or the plankton substitute and allow it to soak for another 30 minutes before dispersing it throughout the aquarium.   A prepared Tropic Marin® Reef Snow stock solution (without feed/plankton substitute) can be stored for two weeks at room temperature. The size of the Tropic Marin® Reef Snow particles formed can be altered by varying the dosage from 1 to 2 measuring spoons per 100 ml.
