Helfrichi Firefish

The Purple Firefish, scientifically known as Nemateleotris decora, is also commonly referred to as the Decorated Dartfish. It is one of the most beautiful and peaceful small reef fish, featuring a brilliant yellow head that transitions into rich purple hues, while the body fades gracefully from white to violet. Its elongated dorsal fin gives it an elegant, streamlined appearance.

Thanks to its gentle nature and graceful swimming behavior, the Purple Firefish is an ideal choice for reef aquariums. It adds vibrant color and constant activity without disturbing other peaceful tank inhabitants.

In the wild, the Purple Firefish feeds primarily on zooplankton suspended in the water column, while also picking food from the substrate when available. In the aquarium, it thrives on a varied, protein-rich diet.
